Pic from 1969 after my dad made me get a haircut!

I started the 1970'a as Lead Singer in a Rock band in Boulder, Co., then went back to my roots writing folk songs while simultaneously being sucked into the crazy and sleepless world of the IT revolution. It's funny to look at how my hairdo's changed, but also my songs changed with the events of my life.  I wrote these in 1977 while  trying to recover from a failed marriage (see IT reference above).  Recorded in 1979 at Free Reelin' Sound in Denver, with my best bud Dave Allen adding guitar and harmony.

I like both dogs and cats.  When I was young and rebellious I thought Tomcats were a great example.  Here's a song I wrote about one back in 1976.

I wrote this next song in 1969 when I was living in Wisconsin, and feeling a little homesick one day.  For much of my youth I'd lived near Evans Ave in Denver.

It was exit #93 at the time.  Several hundred thousand new residents later it's now number two hundred something!

I bought a Les Paul guitar in 1979, and my new songs became more hard- edged.  These were also recorded with the help of Dave Allen (see above guy with better hair than me), along with Roger Mitchell (keys), Rob Douglass (drums), Bruce Easton (lead guitar on 'Goliath'), and Paul Edgerton (sax on 'In Between').  Please forgive the poor recording quality, I resurrected these from ancient cassette tapes. Recorded in 1980 at Free Reelin' Sound, except for 'Rejected' (live recording) and 'Be Cool' (my house).  ('Summertimes' copyright David E. Allen and Michael P. Fields - Dave's song except I helped with the lyrics)
